February 23-24, 2008
Results from the Florida Citrus Cup, Miami, Florida
Sensei Bowden and Senpai Sean Padgett attended the Florida Citrus Cup on February 23-24, 2008.  Sensei Bowden was one of the six ring referees. Senpai Padgett competed in the WKF advanced kumite divisions which featured karateka from USA, Brazil, Peru, Chile, Ukraine and Uruguay, just to name a few.  Unique to this tournament was the participation by three 2006 World Karate Federation Champions.  Two in Kumite and one in Kata.  The 2006 WKF Kumite Champion, Rafael Aghayev, from Azerbajian,  taught a 2 hour Kumite Seminar on Sunday, Feb 24, which Senpai Padgett participated.  Skills that Sean learned from this training will be presented to our students.
The Florida Citrus Cup has become the Premier Karate Event in the USA.

Katsu Challenge
Stephen O'Connell Center, University of Florida
Gainesville, Florida
A Florida Sport Karate League sponsored event, this tournament brought lots of excitement under the dome at the O'Connell Center, University of Florida.  The Perry Dojo had a small participation group but this group represented our Dojo very well.  Members attending were, Senpai Padgett, Levi Strickland, Garrison Towels and Sensei Bowden. Each of our participants placed in their events.  The level of competition was very high for just over 200 participants.  As usual, Sensei Jason Sorgi, tournament director, ran a very efficient event and we were outta there by 2:00pm.
